QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must have at least five (5) years hands-on experience supporting AS400/iSeries in a corporate environment. Primarily responsible for the maintenance and administration of AS400/iSeries (servers, multiple partitions), including message handling, command line utilities, work management, job and print control, device management, system configuration, system security, backup and restore, file transfer integration and PTF management.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Assist in daily administration of AS400/iSeries computer hardware and software.
Assist in installation, configuration and maintenance of AS400/iSeries hardware, software, networked devices and journaling.
Develop, document and maintain procedures for system utilities such as backup/restore, performance tuning and configuration of environments as well as incremental backups as required.
Load and test operating system and application software releases and fixes in both development/test and productions environments; load application software patches; performance and file tuning utilities.
Document and implement application specific security groups and classes. Provide cross-training for other team members in the use of AS400/iSeries administrative skills.
May serve on additional technology teams as required.
Monitor jobs submitted by users
Monitor iSeries performance (disk storage, CPU usage, record locks, job errors)
Complete schedules for daily/weekend/month-end/year-end processing
Perform weekly system backups
Update iSeries tape logs and performance logs/charts
Perform monthly data refreshes on TEST/DEV partitions
Work with Applications group on job errors/issues
Trouble shoot user printing issues (msg wait, start writers, reports in wrong outq)
System maintenance (file reorgs, reclaim storage, etc.)
New account setups
Cleanup of old accounts/libraries/owned objects
File security
Put together schedules for daily/weekend/month-end/year-end processing
MIMIX setup/monitoring/maintenance
JOB REQUIREMENTS: KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
Knowledge of AS400/iSeries system administration and troubleshooting.
Experience with Change Management Tools.
Knowledge of AS400/iSeries networked systems, access and security guidelines and procedures.
Understanding of internal controls and change management processes.
Skill in solving technically challenging problems involving AS400/iSeries based application and hardware issues.
Skill in prioritizing and balancing multiple tasks.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships and promoting teamwork
Working knowledge of CL and RPG programming languages is preferred.
Skill in providing excellent customer service.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred
5+ years of related experience
IBM AS/400 iSeries operations experience required
Experience in manufacturing a plus
Enterprise level experience a plus
