Amazons Digital Software and Video Games Store (DSV) is carrying on that tradition while delivering the latest and greatest in cross-platform digital entertainment and helping vendors monetize and expand their reach.
The DSV team is seeking a technical manager with a track record of driving projects to improve software development/business/customer service support-related processes and has experience building a software engineering support team or equivalent.
A successful candidate will be an experienced manager who is willing to take on a challenging space, has a strong customer focus, ability to lead multi-functional teams and loves a fast-paced environment. Our space is growing rapidly, and we're looking for a manager who can help us scale as our business grows. This manager will collaborate with business teams, program/project management teams, and software engineering teams to help articulate DSVs engineering support processes and scale our business while showing our obsession with the customer. Responsibilities include building and direct management of a team of 3-6 support engineers, drive process and service improvements, monitor and improve day-to-day operational efficiency and management of resources across teams. The role also involves driving smaller scope development projects and building custom tools.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience within software/systems engineering
Minimum of 3 years of experience managing and developing direct reports (performance review communication, accountability, motivation/engagement)
An understanding of programming/scripting (Java or C++, Perl or shell scripting)
Preferred Qualifications
Strong focus on monitoring & understanding metrics with a focus on operational excellence
The ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Technical aptitude to quickly grasp complex technical issues and communicate directly with technical teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders.
An understanding of web services (SOAP, XML) and networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL, DHCP, Load Balancing)
Some systems administration (Unix/Linux) experience
